Long Rides And Cheap Thrills: How Humans Are Greedy For Experiences

People spend their whole lives seeking thrills: from smoking to going out for thrill rides to full fledged adventure hikes. Why don’t most of us sit alone and enjoy the thrill of “being“? Why don’t most of us enjoy the thrill of all the surprises and disappointments that life throws our way?

Why is it that humans cannot be satisfied with what they have? Why do we crave for more?

This is one of the thoughts that keeps cropping up in my mind most of the time.

It seems almost wasteful to have to crave for more of something. But what I sometimes overlook is the fact that humans would not be so developed and progressive now if it weren’t for our curiosity and our need for more.

Early scientists never rested on their laurels, they never stopped researching, they never stopped looking for answers. Perseverance. It’s the only quality that has helped mankind grow and develop and be at the forefront of scientific knowledge.

This principle works fine for science, but what about our life? Why the need for more thrills? Why not enjoy every moment so that every moment feels like a thrill ride? Why not let every moment take your breath away as if you were on a roller coaster?

This is what life is about. Being happy with what you have; because what you have is unique. Be proud of the life that you have. Celebrate your life. #lifegasm
