Howdy! I see you’ve ended up on my blog and (hopefully) want to know more about me. Like any con man might say, you’ve come to the right place!
[Disclaimer: I am not a con artist.]
I write about half-formed thoughts and observations, philosophical views plagiarised from who-knows-where and dry self-deprecating humor that usually just ends up falling flat on its stupid face.
The title of the blog tells you many things, but what it doesn’t tell you is my name. Or the fact that I love food. Or that I can do the Vulcan salute with both hands simultaneously with no help whatsoever.
I am Akhil, currently in my senior year at college. I live in India, that mystic country in the East that can’t decide for sure whether it wants to be modern or still wants to hold onto its traditional roots. The country where designated shitting streets outnumber pliable roads. No offense to anyone, but I do not hold back and point out things just the way they are. Here’s something else you might want to know about me.
- I can do the Vulcan salute with both hands simultaneously. That’s probably the most interesting thing about me, and the least useful.
- I am incredibly shy around people and will often say something stupid that I’ll regret 3 weeks later at 4 in the morning. Which reminds me…
It’s pronounced jif, not gif. [Drops mic 🎤]
I daydream a lot, the desire to escape is one of my deepest traits. Reading books and writing and pretty much any thinking I do is a method of escaping the present moment.
For me, writing is just a way to remove the ephemeral nature of my thoughts. Giving them a permanent place to live in, for Future-Me to pore over and discern and possibly laugh at, is my intention. If ideas make the man, and the thoughts I have are ideas, then this digital blog is a part of my analog identity.
I try to post at least once a week, and fail most of the time. Procrastination is a merciless companion, for sure. However, when I do get to sit my ass down and write, I publish regularly about once a week. On Sundays, from this moment forth. So yeah, get my posts on Sundays and check out my new Facebook page and like/share if you please. You know you want to. If you’d like to get in touch and suggest/criticise/shout at me, do head over to the Contact page and give me a piece of your mind.
